Right equipment - right golf swing.

My golf swing was being restricted by the wrong size clubs. I am almost embarrassed to admit this but I have heard similar stories from so many other golfers over the years.
I inherited my golf clubs from an uncle of mine who was moving overseas. The problem was that he is 5 inches shorter than I am.
Imagine my pride as I rolled out my expensive set of clubs in front of my buddies. An agonizing 18 holes later I couldn't figure out how come my score was worse than usual and why my back hurt so much.
I kept on using these clubs for the next 18 months until I was lucky enough to be on the practice tees beside the club pro.
He saw my problem straight away and after a couple of appointments (and a lighter wallet) I was off stalking the greens with a new set of 'comfortable' clubs.
It still took me a good 3 months to get my timing and rhythm back. Since then I have seen so many other golfers with clubs that are too long or too short for them.
I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience.
