Golf Stance

The
golf stance is actually where it all starts.
It is the first opportunity to present in a relaxed well organized way or to impose rigidities, restrictions and imperfections onto the golf swing.
Most people have too much tension and irregularities in their body posture just standing normally never mind when they are preparing to hit a golf ball.
There is so much we can do here to set up an effortless, accurate and powerful swing with your golf stance.
The key to having an effective stance is to prepare for the spiralling motion that comes with the swing. This takes a very relaxed and well integrated body.

There are many theories and practices as per the optimal
stance and
swing.
Regardless of the theories, or techniques, you follow with golf your body is still going to be at its best when it is relaxed, without tension and available for the dynamic rotation of the swing.
This series of exercises with the golf stance are designed to have you standing in your preferred stance optimally prepared for your swing.
There is a lot to become aware of to enhance your skill with this. While you spend the time during these exercises developing this awareness, when it comes time to hit the ball you use the techniques from the 'Instinctive Mind and Body Integration' lessons from 'Mastering Golf - Using Feldenkrais and NLP' and do it naturally and as a reflex.
Again though, we start with your golf stance as you address the ball:
- are you more on the balls of your feet or the heel
- - both feet or one
- - which one?
- More on the inside of the foot or the outside?
- What is the integrity of the connection between your knee and your hip joint?
- How is your lower back involved?
- Can you track all this and hit the golf ball
- - if not how then?
- What is the angle of your feet to your body- to the line to the golf ball?
- How is it that many golfers get knee injuries - is there a way to avoid this?
- Do you even know how to explore these questions or the importance of them to your swing?
